Pete graduated from Georgetown University in 1969, then completed UPT at Del Rio in 1970. He was in USAF’s last F-100 class at Luke. Then his entire class was sent to become FACs in SEA. He was one of the primary “King FACs” in the battle of An Loc during the second Tet Offensive in April-June, 1972. He flew 260 combat sorties, with 896.5 combat hours in one tour in SEA, and was awarded the DFC three times.
Pete returned and went immediately to the 166 TFS at Lockbourne/Rickenbacker ANGB in the F-100, getting 344 hours in The Hun. He considers his F-100 experience and his association with the 166 TFS among the high points of his life. He then flew the A-7D for 15 years. While at Rickenbacker, he attended The Ohio State University of Law.
He graduated from the USAF Fighter Weapons School in 1987. He was the Night Attack Manager for Air National Guard at the ANG/AFRES Test Center from 1986-1990, leading the development of NVGs, integrated night helmets and infrared equipment for low altitude night attack, and leading a Human Factors Study for night attack in single-seat fighters. He helped develop the syllabus used in LANA and LANTIRN night attack student training.
He finished in the F-16 at 162 TFW, with a total of 3,500 flying hours.
He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross three times.
He is married to a great lady, Debbie. They live in Tucson, Arizona and have two children and four grandchildren, also high points in his life. He has practiced law as a Prosecutor and civil litigator for 39 years, and has been the Chair of the Arizona College of Trial Advocacy.
